I calculate that the hills slowed us down by an average 16 seconds / mile, so we'd have been 7:12 with that effort otherwise, presuming Mapmyrun was close on it's overall computation of the hills (610 feet). Seems at least close, since the high point was 531' higher than the low point.

Also, who's Frtiz? Sounds like a carbonated electrolyte recovery drink.

It's the frtizziest.
According to Strava, which I don't agree with just by perceived effort, we ran a 7:22 adjusted pace. It thinks our 7:01 mile down Virginia and over to S Temple for a drop of 299 ft was 8:36 adjusted.

It thinks the overall hilliness only slowed us by 6 seconds? That seems a little off. Daniels got even more credibility today. Remember how I said that I thought Brett Hales was worth more like 1:04 flat from my Daniels conversions of his UT downhill halves (both Haunted Halves, within a month of his presumedly aimed qualifying peak)? I got home and happened across his name at 1:04:10 from USA Half Championships. The funny thing is that I bet he was more peaked at Las Vegas when he first went for the qualifier since it was so recent, so my calculation that he could crack 1:04 in the right race was definitely valid.

I think it thinks the uphills are hard but the downhills offset most of that.

i tend to think the hill overall slowed us by about 15 seconds a mile. Did you see that Jared Ward from BYU took 2nd in the Half Marathon Championships!?! 1:01:42. Wow.

If Jared can get under 61 while focusing on the marathon, he can make the team in 2020. Honestly, it could even be possible for 2016. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ritz injured, and Meb will be 40, so anything can happen with him. Does anyone expect Hall to be faster than 2:13 at any point these days? The USA marathon championship didn't have any of the biggest names, but Ward was still 2nd there too. I could see him being top 5 in a slow race.
