Yesterday, I was given clearance to do 15-20 minute runs. I need to make sure my hips are aligned and keep them in line. I also need to avoid hills and trails for the time being.

I warmed up 10 minutes on the stationary bike and then quickly drove down the hill from my office to the first place I could park and did 15 minutes that included only 43ft of total climb. I was going faster than I expected at 6:50 pace for the run but it felt very good. The usual sit bone pain was there but the front hip impingement was not and the SI joint felt ok as well. I am also pretty sure I stayed in alignment. Then I hurried back to the office for 10 minutes on the stationary bike to cool down.

I like being outside infinitely better than on that bike but glad to get in 35 minutes of cardio. 20 minutes of running tomorrow.

Running is way better than not running

Josh, just curious as how you achieved alignment. Was it through a chiropractor or other methods? I'm still having some trouble in my own situation.

From Josh E on Wed, Dec 03, 2014 at 16:57:17 from 205.235.104.4

Hi Steve - As I understand it, there are muscular adjustments you can make on your own that accomplish similar results to a chiropractic adjustment.

My physical therapist has given me a series four things to do and it takes less than a minute total. They essentially consist of tugging the left hip up and pushing the right hip down. That gets me back in line.

To stay in line, that is a series of improvements to core strenth and flexibility; fixing the stuff that got you out of line in the first place. So my therapy has been a series of core/hip/glute exercises daily and some hamstring stretching.

I am aware that there will also be some more load bearing exercises and some eccentric hamstring strenghtening in the future but I am not ready for that stuff quite yet.

Definitely good news Josh. I have relied on a chiro with some sort of drop table which works.. but wow it seems to be temporary at best. Good luck with your upcoming base work this winter.
