Lunch

I did 5x3:15 at 5:00 pace on the treadmill at work. I brought the elevation up to 2.5 on the first rep then 3 for the last 4 reps. That made it closer to true 5:00 effort. 2 minutes jogging recovery. Sort of a primer for Draper Days on Saturday. I was going to do 6 but 5 felt like enough. Warmed up 3 and cooled down about 2.5.

Pretty quick. Good sign going into the weekend.

I wonder who is nice enough to pick up everyone's packets? Are you one of those elitists who show up 30 minutes prior and get it?

From Jake K on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:25:44 from 159.212.71.200

In the past, I've always made the Friday night drive down to Draper. Who shows up 30 minutes before a race? You need to warmup for about that long to run a decent 5K!

From Josh E on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:29:07 from 205.235.104.4

I will get you a copy of my driver's license by tomorrow.

I know it's generally 60 minutes prior but that didn't sound as cool. I like the idea of veni, vidi, vici rather thank veni, vidi, warmed up and chatted, vici.

i like this: "you can pick up your packet saturday morning if you arrive at 5 am and help our volunteers and race staff with setup."

nice primer for the primer.

"In the past" are the key words from my previous comment.

From Jake K on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:34:47 from 159.212.71.200

Yeah I like how he snuck that in there. I hope like 200 people show up to help out at 5am.

From Josh E on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:37:06 from 205.235.104.4

Not stoked about the course change. Hopefully it's not 3.03.

Allie - don't you work out there in BFE?

From allie on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:41:08 from 161.38.221.168

BFE?

yes, i work in draper, and yes, i can get the packets. but i will need your SSN#.

the new course appears to be the correct length (maybe even slightly long?), and according to the course tool it's faster. it looks like there's more of a downhill in the second mile and less of an uphill in the third mile.

From allie on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:42:19 from 161.38.221.168

seriously, i can pick up your packets, no problem.

From allie on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:47:38 from 161.38.221.168

oh, and when i say "correct length" i just mean not short, but of course i really don't know. hopefully it doesn't come up short, especially after what happened at murray.

From Josh E on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 09:51:58 from 205.235.104.4

I have been trying to think of something good for BFE. All I've got is beyond fields everlasting. It's not working out.

That's 45 miles round trip. Luckily my Prius is fuel efficient so I only owe you $4. I happen to have golden coins in my console.

From Jake K on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 10:44:59 from 159.212.71.200

I think the new course is faster. That part on 12400 was always tough. I was 99% skipping it, but now that number is down to 90%. I just need to decide if waking up at 5am to try and break 16:30 is worth it.

From Josh E on Wed, Jul 16, 2014 at 11:19:42 from 205.235.104.4

You could pace a guy to 16:15. Preview. According to the course tool, mile 2 needs to be 4:54!
