If ever I wished I could be dishonest about a run, today would be the day. I had a wonderful idea of getting dropped off at the Mueller Park trailhead and running down North Fork City Creek to City Creek and home. I was in South Ogden and I got dropped off around 2:15.

This was my first time there and I missed the trail head, I went straight up the road to Mill Creek. I stubbornly assumed it would meet up with the trail at some point and kept following pink flags until it no longer became a good idea to do so. I could still see GPS on my phone so I tried to cut straight up the mountain side. That didn't get me anywhere, so I cut back down and returned to the start and had my wife come get me. A waste of two and a half hours, especially the 48 minute mile cutting up the mountain side. Oh well. Other than cuts on the legs, I still feel great.

You wouldn't be dishonest if you simply said "Easy paces 7 miles on soft surfaces"

:-)

:) This is my only log of the details of my miles so I have to record the blunders to remember them well. I knew pretty quick I was being stupid but I wouldn't call it.

Sorry I missed you today. With Fritz spraining his ankle and your sore knee and all. Some day we'll get a good crew out for a Sunday run.

I ended up doing OK today but it was a lot of looping around my neighborhood until I was sure I was fine. We'll get the Sunday crew rolling again. Once I transition more into marathon mode, I tend to do a lot of LRs on Sunday, especially when I'm racing on Saturdays.

I did a lot of Sat/Sun racing/LR during the winter and spring. I actually think it improved my fitness though it was somewhat stressful to my body at the time.

Makes me think of Jay Johnson (and presumably others) saying no periodization, or as Radiohead might put it "everything all of the time."

I have nothing scheduled other than the Alta Peruvian but I think I will ad a couple more...

it's not quite the same route, but if you want to give mueller park another go, a group is meeting at 6:30am on thursday. we are going to do the whole loop this time -- somewhere around 12-13 miles.

Thanks Allie. I would love to do that run with you guys and I obviously need a tour guide but that's too late in the morning for me.
