Easy across to HCI and down 4th ave via fed heights. I felt sluggish going down so I decided to pick up the effort on the way back and that felt a bit better.

I forgot socks today and went sockless. The Ride 5s have an edge for the lacing structure that caused both toes to bleed but otherwise they actually felt better. I sometimes get some numbness in these shoes and none of that today.

It could be that you are lacing a hair too tight if you are experience numbness.

I am a big fan of sockless running and it takes a bit to get your feet used to it, but I sometimes use Skin Glide (pricy given that the tube doesn't last long) or Body Glide (stinks, makes a mess). I have switched to 2Toms Sport Shield for my legs (sometimes my feet) but they also make a foot power, which is great but messy to apply. I think out of the four the 2Toms Sport Shield is the way to go.

Thanks. It's this specific pair and this is the main reason I don't like them. They aren't tight, in fact they have a lot of wiggle and I almost wonder if the problem is not being able to get proper grab on the left foot. It just sort of rubs around without grabbing. Its on the bottom of the foot where the metatarsals meet the phalanges (I can't find a name for that spot - I want to call it the forefoot pad).

When I first got back into running, I ran in a pair of Merrell True Gloves without socks. I moved from the trail to the road and really started dreaming of some protection, but I loved the sockless feel of the shoes and the attachment to the world around me. On the trail, it was always a nice foot massage by the end of it.
