4-3-2-1 miles at marathon effort with 4-3-2 minutes rest or so. The forecast said no precip so the snow for two hours before the run and the first three miles of the run was a surprise but it wasn't sticking and didn't affect anything.
After a two mile warm-up, I did the same four mile stretch from Research Park over the hill and down Wasatch at 6:03 (flat), 6:09 (75 up), 5:46 (75 down) and 5:49 (7 up). Felt ok. Then return to 1300 S and back to the end of Wasatch at 5:55 (7 up) 5:58 (even but 30 up/down in it) and 5:58 (7 down). Now I was more tired than I wanted to be. Then back to 1300 S and a shorter turn south at 5:58 (13 down) and 6:08 (25 up). I am tired and working now. Last mile was returning toward the zoo with 30 ft down then 60 ft up. I was very tired and managed a 6:14. 5:59.5 avgerage. Almost 2 mile cool down back to work.
Not a bad work out and not far off marathon pace but almost a blow up at the end. I attribute it to a tough workout, sub-optimal weather (wind not snow) and high mileage recently (187 miles over the last 14 days). Also running my easy stuff too fast including 6:40 pace on the treadmill yesterday evening.
I may reduce miles slightly this week to be fresh for Saturday. Maybe even Friday off!
